Something about traveling in the Regions which causes me to
get writing again. For those of you who
had missed the event winter has started – it’s cold. Except, of course, in the airplane where they
were cunningly blowing 45 degree hot air at my ankles. After a 90 minute flight my lower legs were medium rare.
And then the hotel; we (SWMBO) are accused by our “staff” that the
temperature in the apartment is “po angliski” which means that you need to wear
marginally more than your underwear to feel comfortable. The opposite is true in the hotel – unless
you are wearing just your underwear you will gently boil. And there aren’t enough blankets in the hotel
to sleep with the window open.
And what is it with the airline value thing. I can fly cheaper to London than I can to Saratov, and the London flight is on plane not otherwise known as a Yak 40 on which it is physically impossible to get two people on to the delightful bench seats provided.
